| The year was 2007 |
| East Grinstead, Summer 2007 A round-robin scoring system saw the year 6 come a creditable 3rd place in a tournament brimming with talented (and tall) children. | The Westoning contingent consisted of a combined year 7, A and B team squad. It was a hot day in Surrey, with precious little shade on offer between matches, but despite this, the squad worked really well together right from the start, ignoring the scorching conditions and showing real commitment & support for each other. Dot was ever-present to offer advice in between umpiring duties. |

Sunday October 7th 2007 Year 7 and 8 teams returned from Stockland Green, Birmingham, after the first of three visits playing in a 7 a-side tournament.
The year 8 team made short work of their two opponents, winning by an embarrassingly large margin of 30+ points in each match. To go to Birmingham and play against such high standard opponents is one thing, but to come away with such a huge win, twice, is an outstanding achievement. "Well done team". The year 7 team, playing their first competitive 7 a-side games, didn't fare so well, losing each match by a margin of 15+ points. However, we've been told that these Birmingham kids play 7 a-side from year 5 upwards. They've had 2 years playing this code of netball, whereas in Bedfordshire, we have stuck to the England Netball recommendations and coached high-5 netball up to and including year 6. All in all, we think the year 7 team performed well, worked extremely hard and learned a valuable lesson. Mark, mark mark! |
