Match Reports for 2010 Junior League
From: Helen Bamford (Coach), 16th May
Westoning Storm had 3 games to play for the plate competition. Leighton Buzzard Rockets was the first game. At the end of the first quarter injury struck, and Tayla came off (hope you get better!). During the next two games they were down to 5 players, no subs. Amie made a flying interception while playing GD. Storm had shots on goal but Leighton Buzzard put up a good fight. Great effort girls!
The second game was against Wilstead Diamonds. Storm had many shots and they turned them into goals. Diamonds started strongly and kept possession well. As Storm got into the swing of the game, there were definitely areas of the game that came together nicely. Backline passes were the strongest part of the game, and they worked effectively. A fantastic effort by all!
Finally, Storm’s third game was against Shefford Sonic. Sonic came out strong again and scored a few goals. Storm kept up and everyone made great interceptions to change the game. But as the game progressed, Sonic got into the swing of the game. Brilliant team effort. Well done girls!
Throughout the season, Westoning Storm have played fantastic netball and have improved as each game progressed. Charlotte and I have both enjoyed coaching Storm this season. Well done Storm! :) Helen xxx
From: Hannah Mowle, 18th April:
Team storm played very well on Sunday. Taylor, Amy and I scored goals; we got a goal in every match. We played 3 games, one against Leighton Buzzard Rockets, one against Wilstead Diamonds and our last one was against Maulden Wildcats. In our first game we were winning 1-0 up to the third quarter when they got a goal. The last quarter of that match the other team got 3 goals.I think our team did much better in these matches than before. I think the training on Thursday helped us improve in our matches. We had a few silly passes but quite a few shots at goal. All together I think we did very well.
WELL DONE TO STORM GREAT EFFORT!
From : Millie Jennings, 21st March:
Another Sunday on the 21/03/10 and the bright sun was shining. Every Sunday morning our mums are driving us in the car to the Bunyan Centre so we can play our matches. Our first Match was on court 1 at 9:30, against Bedford Emeralds and the score in the end was 6 to Bedford Emeralds and 2 to us Westoning Thunder. All of the players on the other team were tall and the other team could get it over our heads and then pass down the court to the goal, but apart from that we got the ball in the goal a couple of times, 1 goal got shot by Kelsey Martin and the other goal got shot by Aoife McDonagh; they were great goals.
The second match on Sunday the 21/03/10 and the sun was still shining with a little wind. Our second match was on court 6 at 10:00; against Leighton Buzzard Rockets. The score was 6 to Leighton Buzzard Rockets and 2 to us, Westoning Thunder. Westoning Thunder were working there hardest as Leighton Buzzard where everywhere and getting that ball down to the goal and then back to our goal as well.
We got 2 goals shot by Aoife and another by Leah they were all excellent, brilliant and great goals.
The third match on Sunday the 21/03/10 with a little sun shining and quite a bit of a breeze. Our third match was on court 3 at 11:00; against Maulden Wildcats. The score was 5 to Maulden Wildcats and 2 to us Westoning Thunder, it was quite funny that we got a score of 2 all the time in all the 3 matches. We really hoped that we could have won all of our matches and scored lots of brilliant goals. We had a half an hour break in between the 2nd match to this match and then played again in the next 4 quarters we have such a great time and in this match I think that Kelsey played really well.
From : Libbie Orsborn, 14th March Mothers day and the sun was shining, our Mums didn't get a lay in, instead they were watching us girlies, 9:30 court 4 playing against Shefford Sonic. It was a great effort given by all. The team was well matched and considering the team were quite tall we managed to win by given high passes and being very determined. Millie scored the first three goals, myself the fourth then Millie scoring the fifth, so well done Millie. The score was 5-2 to Westoning Thunder. Well done to all players as it was an excellent team effort.
The second game we played was against Grangers Tempest, court 3 at 10:30. The sun was still shining with a slight wind. Even though us girlies were feeling the cold we still managed to enjoy playing. It was a tough game all the way through. Again we played as a team. In this match the score was 5-3 to Grangers Tempest. Kelsey scored the first 2 goals and Aoife scoring the third. I think everyone tried their hardest, so well done to everyone. Well done to Kelsey and Aoife for scoring and well done to Aoife for her determination to score. I know for one I am looking forward to next week, so come on Thunder!!! We can do it!!! |
From Aoife McDonagh: On the 7th of March , Westoning Thunder had a tough first game aganist Wilstead Diamonds. We won the match by one goal right at the end.The score was 3-4. In the first quater Millie got our first goal. Then Wilstead diamonds were getting harder we knew we had to fight more. Near the end the score was 3-3. When it was the last quarter we had to make sure we got a goal and Wilstead didn't.
On the 7th of of March, Westoning Thunder played their 2nd and last match of the day. Westoning Thunder played Westoning Storm which we all found a bit wierd. But Westoning Thunder didn't let that stop us from fighting. In the first quater we definitely did our very best. When we got the ball down to our goal Leah then did a really good goal. Then when it came to the last quarter we kneq we had to get another goal. We tried our very best to get the ball to our end. Then I got the goal that we all wanted! |
