From Evie Newton (9th May): On sunday 9th of may we played Grangers and Maulden. We did well on the matches; On the first match we played Grangers and we drew 15-15. It was a tight match and we worked together well, luckily, literally in the last couple of seconds, we got a goal to even up the score! The other team was very good as well so it was quite tricky to try and mark up, but we managed! On the second match we played Maulden; we beat Maulden 13-11 and it was a close game as they are a good team as well! Our shooters did well and we got lots of good goals. Sometimes during the game the other team got more than us and we had to pull it back, and we did in the end. Our team have good coaches to encourage us along and to help us learn good skills in netball, which helps us a lot when we play!
From Deanna Essam (9th May) : Hello, my name is Deanna Essam and I play for Westoning’s Year 8 Team, Trojans. Sunday 9th May was our last game of the season, so we were all determined to make the most of it. We played a team called Grangers Tornadoes. We had beaten them before so were pretty confident. We managed to get straight into the game as we were up and raring to go. Katie proved to be shooting well and scored four goals, with Tegan backing up with three. The game moved fluently and swiftly and the first quarter ended 7-0. We were ready to head straight into the second quarter, with Dot making some tactical changes, Tegan moving into Centre and Megan moving into the shooting area. We managed to convert another 8 goals, Katie sticking to her excellent shooting by scoring 6 and Megan scoring 2. By now, everyone was moving well and our passing was very good and accurate. This made the score at half time, 15-0. In the third quarter, it was time for Megan to shine, scoring 4 goals and Katie scoring 1. We were really getting into our game now and the goals were pouring in. We went into the last quarter with a score of 20-0, but we were not finished yet. Dot made some more changes, putting Abi at WA and Fran into WD. She put Charley back into C and moved Tegan down to GK, with Kelsey as GD keeping the shooters the same. We ended up winning the game by a staggering 27 goals to 0. Katie scored 4 and Megan scored 3. Watching the game on the sidelines was fun and enjoyable and because of that, I am able to give the match report to you today. We all played very, very well. Abi made some fantastic interceptions even in WA and Kelsey also made some good passes and moved down the court. Katie shot fantastically, scoring 15 goals overall and Tegan made a very good C. Charley also made some good interceptions and passes and Fran kept her marker out of the circle very well and Megan also created most of the goals that were scored. Very well done, Trojans! We deserved to win! What a great season we’ve had! :-) From: Tegan Turner. This week, Trojans had 2 matches. One against Westoning Sparks and the other against Cranfield Raiders. Firstly, we played Sparks and didn't get off to a very good start letting in 2 goals straight away. Their play in mid-court was a lot faster than ours and we were struggling to get the goals in. Katie did manage to score but right as the whistle blew so, unfortunately, it didn't count. The second quarter had a few changes and the whole team played much, much better. The ball flowed down the court easily and the defence was tight. This helped us score some goals with Katie scoring 2 and Deanna scoring 3. Sparks also scored 1. The third quarter saw Sparks scoring 2 but Trojans scoring 4; 2 from Katie and 2 from Tegan. The last quarter was similar with Sparks scoring another 2. Megan moved to GS and scored 2, Tegan also scoring 5. The final score was 16-7 to Trojans. Very well played girls. The second game was tough as we played Cranfield Raiders. We went out fighting and were lucky enough to get the first centre pass. The movement was good and Trojans managed to take the lead with 2 goals from Tegan. The second quarter wasn't as good and the score turned, leaving Cranfield in the lead with 4-3 with Megan scoring the 3rd goal. By now we were getting a little tired and Cranfield were playing a lot better. The third quarter saw Megan score another goal and Cranfield scoring 3. The last quarter ended badly leaving the score as 12-4 to Raiders after Trojans didn't score any and Cranfield scored 5. Even though we lost, we did our best and played extremely well. Well played everyone.
From Deanna Essam (28th March) : Hello, my name is Deanna Essam and I play for Westoning Trojans, year 8. This week, we only had one game and that was against Dame Alice Stars. We got off to a slow start, but after a while, our first and second goals were converted by Katie M. Then Tegan scored the next two goals bringing the first quarter up to a score of 4-0. There was good defending and the ball was kept out of the opponent’s circle. The second quarter, we began to gain momentum, ending up scoring 5 goals, 1 by Megan and the other 4 by Tegan, bringing the score up to 9-0. The game was beginning to flow nicely and we were starting to work the ball better up the court. At half time, we made a lot of changes, with Megan and me shooting. In the third, we converted another 4 goals, me scoring 2 and Megan scoring 2, making the score a solid 13-0. Now that we were in full flow, we were ready for the last quarter, converting another 5 goals, Katie scoring 4 and me scoring 1. That meant that the final score was 18-0. A good solid win. Well done to Katie for excellent shooting, Abi and Fran in the defending area did well and Charley, Tegan and Megan played well around the midcourt area. Well done, Trojans. Another excellent win and a good team performance! From Ellis Orsborn: On the 21st March, it was a lovely sunny day, perfect for playing netball. The first match was on court 6 against MK Netters. The score was 11-9 to MK. Well done to Eleanor for her excellent shooting and well done to the rest of the team because in my opinion it was a fantastic team effort. It was a close game all the way through.
After having an half hour break, Wyvern were ready to set the court on fire. Again, Ii think we really do play well as a team. Everyone tries their best. The second match was against Bedford Ruby on court 3. The first and second quarter went really well. We really did play at our best, scoring 8 goals. So well done everyone for their quick thinking and passing and well done to Chantalle for her shooting. The third and fourth quarter we managed to keep Rubies on their toes. They were unable to catch up and Wyvern won!!! The score was 10-4 to Wyvern. Well done girlies, I can't wait for next week to play against Wilstead and Cranfield. So come on WYVERN!!! From : Megan McDonagh, 14th March
Hey, I'm Megan from Trojans. Our first game on Sunday was against Westoning Sparks, both teams played very well but Trojans came out on top scoring 15 goals; we played very well as a team especially working the ball up the court, and into the circle where our shooting was very good and accurate. Well Done Trojans x
Our 2nd game, we knew was going to be a lot harder as it was against Cranfield Raiders! The first quarter didn't go too well, we were just very unlucky and didn't score any goals. The second quarter we picked up our passing and scored a few goals, but then again so did Cranfield; We knew as a team that we could do better, and that we were the better team. So we kept our heads up and started to fight back, in the last two quarters everyone played to the best of their ability from the passing to the shooting and the defence, unfortunately we did lose by 4 goals, which we were a bit disappointed by, but overall it was a good team effort so well done girlies :) x
