Youth League

End of the Youth League message from the Fixtures Secretary:

Hi All

 

Well, we arrived at the final event of 2010-2011 Youth Season and as a Committee we hope you have all enjoyed your Netball. 

 

Wednesday 6th April 2011 is the Youth Cup Finals & Presentation Evening.

 

The Cup Finals To Be Played are as follows:-

 

Division 1 – WG Cyclones v WG Lightening

Division 2 – Cranfield Raiders v Comberton

Division 3 – Maulden Black Cats v WG Storm

 

The 1st game of the evening will be the 3rd Division Cup Final which will start at 6.45pm, followed by the 2nd Division Cup Final at 7.30pm.  The 1st Division Final will be the last match of the evening, starting at 8.15pm.

 

Entry into Court Areas from 6.30pm onwards.

 

Games will be 4 quarters of 8 minutes with 2 minutes between the quarters and 3 minutes at half time.

 

All games are to be played on the Indoor Courts at the Bunyan Centre.

 

Following the completion of the Cup Finals the Presentations to all League Winners, Runners Up, Cup Winners & Plate Winners will take place.

 

Division 1

 

League Winners – Maulden Panthers

Runners Up – WG Cyclones

 

Plate Winners – Cranfield Jaguars

Runners Up – Westoning Trojan

 

Division 2

 

League Winners – Cranfield Raiders

Runners Up – Comberton

 

Plate Winners – Sharnbrook Apollo

Runners Up – WG Thunder

 

Division 3

 

League Winners – Maulden Black Cats

Runners Up – WG Storm

 

Plate Winners – Team Blaze

Runners Up – Chiltern Rubies

Deanna Essam of Trojans has been buddying. Here's one of her reports:

 

Hi there, Deanna Essam, team buddy of year 6 B Westoning Storm. April 3rd, 2011
We played 2 matches today and I just want to say that all girls that participated did very well.
The first game was against our very own, Westoning Thunder year 6 A team. We all knew this was going to be hard and despite losing the match, 1-10, the girls still played very well. Well done to Kelsey Martin, scoring the only goal right on the end bell of the game. Also a well done to Sophie Arnull, who did some excellent defending.
The second game was against Wilstead Emeralds. This game was pretty tough, having to play immediately after playing Westoning Thunder. The girls were tired with 5 players and no subs. Unfortunately, we lost the match 3-6, each team having the same amount of possession overall. It was tight, close match and it was a brilliant team effort. Well done to Sophie Arnull again, scoring 2 of our 3 goals, and also well done to Morgan Shaw, who put lots of effort into whichever position she played.
I was very proud of the team at the end of the day. It was also hot, so the girls did face the sun in their eyes at some points. But it was great fun watching them. This is a tough division, but the girls are all doing very well!

I was very pleased with the amount of progress made today, and throughout the league from all of you. Well done!
